Madames et monsieurs, cry ëzut alors', for on March
22nd, debonair disco-teers Aloud join forces with Ministry
of Sound's brand new artist imprint Open , to bring
you the delectable Parisian phunk of ëBob O'Lean' .
Remix #1 comes courtesy of Play Paul , who runs the original through a hand turned electro-mangle, transforming it into a nightmarish cavalcade of bleeps and growls, nodding to Moroder and Dead or Alive along the way.
He's one-half of Radio Slave, he's recorded a Radio 1 Essential Mix and remixed everyone from Timberlake to Benassi. Now Serge Santiago has also added his magic touch to ëBob O'Lean', stripping the original down to the bare bones and gnawing on them like some sort of insatiable low-fi cannibal. Disco adonis Armand Van Helden returns from a two year hiatus to offer Aloud a funk-a-dory slice of stateside cool.
The track's all about an enigmatic character called Bob O'Lean reckon the Gallic duo of Cyril Bodin and Greg Louis. ìBasically this guy's losing his mind,î Cyril explains mysteriously. ìHe had everything he'd every wanted, sex, sun, everything - but then he starts to realise that something crucial is missing.î C'est facile, n'est-pas?
